MC Ginsberg recently crafted a custom engagement ring for me. I had spent about 3 or 4 months going to various jewelers all over the Midwest and on the internet, getting quotes and checking out different options before I went to MC Ginsberg. They had by far the best price that I had found. I greatly enjoyed the professional, yet extremely welcoming atmosphere of their store. They even have tap beer to enjoy while you are working with the jewelers!
Miriam expertly used her 3D imaging program to make a blueprint that uniquely matched my fiancee. I was a little apprehensive before I received the ring and I wanted the proposal to be as special as possible. All of my fears were set aside when I finally received the ring in the mail. Miriam and the people at MC Ginsberg had exceeded my expectations by a great deal. The craftsmanship is readily apparent and the custom design really accents the diamond. My fiancee and I both love the ring and are very grateful that MC Ginsberg could help make our engagement so special!

My experience working with M.C. Ginsberg was nothing short of fantastic. I was shopping for an engagement ring, and although I was on a fairly limited budget, I still wanted something classy, beautiful, and unique. Everywhere I went, the options were very uninspired. But when I went to M.C. Ginsberg, the staff took me very seriously, asked me all the questions I didn’t know to ask myself, and helped me plan to get the best option my budget would allow. They took a few diamonds I had handed down from family members, and showed me computer-generated images of the different types of ring they could make with them.
Every step of the way I felt that I had control of the process, and that I was a valued customer. The staff members seemed very invested in giving me a product that would make my proposal everything I wanted. They were proud of their work, and they were happy to be a part of a crucial moment in my life. I would highly recommend working with M.C. Ginsberg, and will certainly be back when it’s time to buy wedding bands.
We absolutely loved participating in the FryFest 2009 Festival! It was an amazing opportunity for our community to band together under one flag, and a Hawkeye Flag no less!
We created many unique items specifically for the FryFest 2009 Inaugural celebration. These include Gold and Silver plated Hayden Fry coins, limited edition with their unique number, hawkeye pendants and charms with different colored diamonds for the eyes of the tigerhawk, and more! When I first decided to propose to my girlfriend, I literally knew nothing about jewelry or any of the jewelers around Iowa City. After doing some research and looking around at various jewelers, I was able to come up with an idea for the type of ring that my girlfriend would like. I wanted a ring in which the diamond was set lower into the band and thus I had a large amount of difficulty finding examples of rings since most jewelers don’t carry many engagement rings of that style. That’s when I first began to consider MC Ginsberg and their designing studio, The Metal Arts.
While designing an engagement ring, especially when it’s your first major jewelry purchase (like this was for me), can seem a daunting task, Miriam and the rest of the staff at MC Ginsberg truly made it a wonderful experience. Miriam listened very carefully to the suggestions I had as well as my description about the type of ring I wanted. From there she was able to find examples of the types of diamonds and side stones I wanted to see, as well as making a few suggestions I had never even considered. My entire experience during the design process was amazing; I never felt pressured or pushed one way or another by the staff, they merely laid out the options, pointed out a few benefits and limitations of the options and then left it completely up to me to decide.[continued below]

The entire design process and the actual development of the ring took a little less than 2 months and when the ring came back it was perfect. It was exactly what I was hoping for and now, after the fact, I cannot imagine undergoing this process in any other way. I now have strong memories of the design process that will make this ring special for me in a way that could never have been if I just purchased a pre-fabricated ring. My fiancée now has a unique engagement ring that was made specifically with her in mind. Finally, Miriam worked very hard to stay within my budget and in the end the ring ended up being cheaper than most of the “not-quite-right” rings I had looked at previously. I highly recommend the design studio for any purchase in which you have an idea for the type of jewelry you want, even if you’re a “newcomer” to the field like I was. I cannot thank Miriam and the rest of the staff at MC Ginsberg enough for making this time in my life even more special.
